This is the most famous play of Oleksandr Oles, “Night in a Meadow”. The play moves the action to an ethno-festival in the Carpathians and reinforces the play’s chants with the music of the Livingstone band.
In the mountain wilderness, the young shepherd Ivan remains alone, and in this place, remote from people, he plunges into the mystical world of the mountains.
The main storyline tells about Ivan’s love for the mountain beauty Mavka, despite his engagement to the country girl Mariika. Ivan does not accept the mundane and uninteresting life among people and dreams of staying in the forest.
On this night in captivity, the heroes will meet the mysterious forces of nature and their inner demons. We invite viewers to look into the depths of the human soul and think about life’s values and meanings.
